Explore Yarmouth’s Past Planning Efforts

  • Imagine Yarmouth

In 2022, the town conducted a robust public engagement effort to develop a vision statement for Yarmouth and understand community values, priorities, and goals for the future. This visioning work will serve as the foundation for the new comprehensive plan.

  • Open Space Plan

The 2019 Open Space Plan was developed with resident volunteers and town staff to make recommendations for the future preservation and maintenance of Yarmouth’s open spaces and habitat, while balancing the increasing use of recreational spaces and desire for safe bicycle/pedestrian access throughout town.

  • 2010 Comprehensive Plan

Yarmouth’s last comprehensive plan was approved in 2010. Developed with town staff, a resident committee, and public participation, this document has served to guide town policies and development over the past 10+ years.

  • Preservation Plan

In 2021, Yarmouth adopted the Historic Preservation Advisory Ordinance, following a multi-year process that began with a robust survey of the village’s historic resources. The Preservation Plan was developed as part of that initiative, providing recommendations for regulations, incentives, education, and other ways to steward the town’s historic character.

  • Downtown/Main St Parking Study

In 2018, the town undertook an analysis of parking facilities downtown and analyzed future parking demands. This study offers guidance for the efficient management of parking as Yarmouth’s downtown continues to grow.

  • Complete Streets Policy

Yarmouth adopted a Complete Streets Policy in 2015. This policy established a review process for all new public projects to ensure that they support the town’s goal of a multimodal transportation network that is safe, efficient, interconnected, and sustainable for all users.
